Can I succeed like others have? What do I need to do? How do I go about it? What if I don't have the gifts necessary to do something great? The wonderful truth revealed in Scripture is that God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary feats, especially when they say, "Yes, Lord" to the destiny He has prepared for them!
Only one gift list in the New Testament attaches a promised result!
It is truly interesting to me that of all the various lists of gifts given in the New Testament, only one of them includes a promise concerning what will happen if you utilize the gifts in the list. That list is found in Ephesians 4:7-11 and the promise is that we can come to maturity (Eph. 4:13) by honoring the counsel and input from a multi-gifted team of people with five different heart motivations.
By making sure you have input from several people who demonstrate the heart motivations which underlie the five-fold team, you make better decisions and you succeed more often!
The five heart motivations (voices) we must hear from are:
- The voice of divine creativity;
- The voice of unending love for people;
- The voice which passionately seeks out truth;
- The voice which insists we must share the good news;
- The voice which ensures that all of the above voices are heard, honored and flowing together in unison.
These voices come from the hearts of the prophet, the pastor, the teacher, the evangelist and the apostle. To learn more about these gifts and how they express themselves in a variety of situations, we recommend that you also study our book Gifted to Succeed.

Knowledge versus Wisdom - One of the most challenging things I needed to do in my role as a Chief Technologist was staying current with the ever-changing state of Technology. This week I watched a video of a Microsoft Conference Speaker using a hologram of herself to give a speech. She spoke in English, but the hologram spoke in Japanese. I was amazed.
Wholehearted, passionate commitment means that once God grants you a revelation concerning an area you need to possess, you press into that area until you have success, mastery and victory (Jeremiah 29:11-13).
In my morning journaling I said, "God, I hate my personality! I am such a fighter. Why couldn't I be more of a lover. I dislike my passion to battle." The Lord spoke back in my journal:
"Mark, if I wouldn't have made you a fighter, you would never have fought for 10 years to learn to hear My voice. You would have never received the 4 Keys which have brought intimacy to your life and to those you have shared them with. Your nature to fight is a gift from Me which has allowed you to produce a gift for the world. So celebrate your willingness to battle and do not despise it."
Wow! OK, Lord, I celebrate the fact that I am a fighter, and that I am left brain, and that it took me 10 years to discover the right hemisphere in my mind.
