Healing Is Here in My Presence

Mark Virkler's picture

Jessica asked God, “What do You want to show me through this verse: He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions (Psalm 107:20)?"

Journaling from Jessica Blackshear: This is what I heard: Healing is here in My presence. My word has healing power. Meditate on it day and night. Behold I make all things new again. Continue to speak My word, because My word will not return to Me void, but will accomplish that which I sent it and prosper in that which I purpose and please. Speak life to your body.

Mark Virkler's comments: Well, this is powerful counsel from the Wonderful Counselor. Healing is not a system as much as it is a presence. Healing occurs while we are in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and receiving His healing touch along with His counsel. He sometimes has questions: "What do you want?" He sometimes has instructions. Following are a few examples that show the variety which Jesus used.

Various ways Jesus healed

  1. Jesus asks questions, touches and speaks: "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord." Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it be to you."  (Matt. 9:28-29)
  2. Jesus asked them to act in faith: Then He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and it was restored as whole as the other.  (Matt.12:13)
  3. Jesus asks what he wants, and grants what was requested:  "What do you want Me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, that I may receive my sight." Then Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. (Lk. 18:41-43)
  4. Jesus asks questions, requires an act of faith, and breaks traditions: Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me." Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your bed and walk." And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. (Jn. 5:5-9)
  5. Jesus removed unbelievers and extended a healing touch: "Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping." And they ridiculed Him. But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. (Matt. 9:24-25)
  6. Jesus rebuked demons: But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. (Mk. 1:25-26)
  7. Jesus cast out a demon: As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, mute and demon-possessed. And when the demon was cast out, the mute spoke. (Matt. 9:32-33)
  8. Jesus does a creative miracle, touches and requires an act of faith: When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.  (Jn. 9:6-7)
  9. Jesus commands an action of faith: He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, (Lk. 17:14-15)
  10. Jesus rebukes lack of faith, casts out a demon and heals: So I implored Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not." Then Jesus answered and said, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here." And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father. (Lk. 9:40-42)
  11. Jesus sees infirmity, pauses teaching, speaks freedom from the infirmity, lays hands on and heals: Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity." And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. (Lk. 13:10-13)
  12. Jesus is in a religious setting, sees sickness, challenges tradition, and heals: Now it happened, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they watched Him closely. And behold, there was a certain man before Him who had dropsy. And Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" But they kept silent. And He took him and healed him, and let him go. Then He answered them, saying, "Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?" And they could not answer Him regarding these things.  (Lk. 14:1-6)
  13. Jesus requires action, requires faith, and commands healing: Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, "Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?" Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me." Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!" And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Loose him, and let him go." (Jn. 11:39-44)

Journaling application

  1. Worship, pray in the Spirit, and come into His presence with adoration (Ps. 100:4).
  2. Ask what He would speak to you concerning the infirmity you are experiencing.
  3. Journal out what Jesus tells you and act in obedience.

This book presents lamad (revelation-based learning) standards  for teachers and curriculum writers.
