One of the four keys to hearing God’s voice is to recognize His voice as spontaneous, flowing thoughts. We have supported this key with John 7:37-39 which says that the Spirit within us is a FLOW, and with the word for prophet, which is naba, and which literally means to “bubble up.”
The Bible actually refers to three "fountains"
Since each of the experiences below is sensed within us as a flow, it will be helpful to be aware of which flow one is experiencing. Since the flow comes from the vision being held before your eyes, make sure your eyes are fixed on Jesus (Heb. 12:1,2; Acts 2:25; Ps. 16:8), and this insures a pure flow from Him. Of course it is always prudent to have the voice of God confirmed by Scripture and your spiritual advisors.
- Sexual Intimacy - Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. As a loving hind and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love (Prov. 5:18-19).
- Spirit-anointed teachers - The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life (Pro 10:11). The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, To turn aside from the snares of death (Prov. 13:14).
- God and His wonderful counsel - They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters (Jer 2:13). He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.' But this He spoke of the Spirit (Jn. 7:38-39). The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life (Prov. 14:27). The fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook. (Prov. 18:4). Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it (Prov. 16:22).
