Does Heart Surgery Cause the Heart to Pick Up a Spirit of Fear?

Mark Virkler's picture

A cardiac nurse emailed me. She was convinced from what she had seen over the years that afib after a heart attack was caused by fear. Hmmm. Interesting observation.

I know the heart carries memories and I have written about that here. I also know that Jesus can cleanse memories of trauma stored in my cells and discuss that here.

Download this “Inner Healing for an Organ – Prayer Worksheet and complete it (free and interactive), or you can do your journaling in your journaling notebook.

What did my heart experience in the hospital?

Did my heart experience fear, trauma and pain during my open heart surgery which involved five bypasses? The answer is obviously YES! Since my heart can hear and feel and store memories, would it not be fitting for me to pray using the steps listed in this prayer for cleansing cellular memories? Obviously I can pray this prayer more than once (James 5:17,18; 1 Kings 18:42-44).

"A merry heart does good like medicine, and it provides a continual feast" (Proverbs 17:22; 15:15 ). I don’t think my heart is very merry right now, based on what it just went through. It is in recovery mode. I need to cleanse it of fear, trauma, pain, terror and whatever else comes to mind as I tune to flow and pray prayers to cleanse cellular memories.

God spoke the following in my journaling over a several day period

Mark, your heart is healing from trauma. Give it time. It will heal. Speak words of love and release to it and it will respond. There is trauma and fear stored in the cells of your heart and chest because of the surgery that was done to it. Speak aloud words which release fear and trauma and I will be there to bring release. Rebuke any demons attached to the fear or trauma. I will heal your heart as you speak and lay hands upon it.

I prayed as the Lord instructed… then…

Mark, it is done! Now simply believe and speak healing, health and restoration to your heart and it will be strong once again. Stronger than ever, with NO afib. Mark, speak health to your heart.

“My heart is in sinus rhythm. My heart's strength is restored. My heart is at peace. No fear, no pressure, no worry. ONLY PEACE, HOPE and LOVE fill my heart. Thank You, Lord.”

I even felt it would be appropriate to apologize to my heart for all the stress I have put it through, and thank it for its outstanding service for 67 years. There is no example of this is Scripture, nor is it forbidden in Scripture. Just seemed like a nice thing to do.

I appreciate walking on a treadmill that is high tech

It lets me know if my heartbeat gets out of line. Aerobic exercise is designed to raise one's heartbeat. The maximum safe elevated heartbeat is calculated this way: take 208 and subtract (0.7 x age) . My age being 67 means I multiply 67 by .7 = 47. I subtract 47 from 208 and I get my maximum heart rate of 161.

Aerobic exercise should be 60 – 90% of my maximum heart rate (161), which for me comes out to be 96 to 144. So if my heart gets above this range, I can adjust my walk to bring it back into range. This is wisdom and safety as I lovingly care for my heart that is the process of being restored. Check here for normal heart rate for your age

As I walk 1- 3 miles in 60 minutes on the treadmill, I sometimes go through periods where symptoms of afib show up. This is noted when the heart rate indicator stops giving the number of beats per minute and just blanks out. I have found several things can help bring my heart back into sinus rhythm: deep breathing from my diaphragm; singing in tongues and praying for God’s healing hand to bring calm, peace, strength and sinus rhythm to my heart. Since praying and singing in tongues is my spirit praying (1 Corinthians 14:2,4), and my spirit is within my heart, I feel singing in tongues softly as I walk on the treadmill is an effective way for my heart to communicate and receive that which it needs from the Lord. My home testing blood pressure unit, which I use morning and evening, lets me know if I am in afib during those times of the day.

I choose to not see myself as a victim

I don’t want to speak that, believe that or be treated that way. I am being healed and restored by the hand of the Lord. That is my confession, belief and actions.

I have learned that I need to speak health and wellness for a miracle to be manifest. I wrote about that in the blog, Symptoms Go into Remission as I Speak to My Body. God had Abraham confess publically that he was Abraham (father of a multitude) for one year before his wife bore him his first child (Gen. 17:1-5;21:1-5). That means he confessed this reality for four months before it was evident that his wife was pregnant.

In healing of restless leg syndrome, the Lord had me confess it was healed for two weeks before the symptoms disappeared and I was able to sleep through the night undisturbed by restlessness in my legs.

So how long will I need to confess that afib is gone and my heart beats in perfect sinus rhythm before the symptoms disappear? I don’t know. It will be interesting to find out. In this blog I am confessing publically that afib is gone and my heart now beats in perfect sinus rhythm according to the Lord’s rhema word to me, His miracle-working power and His amazing grace.

Will I continue to believe for God to remove all remaining symptoms while I incorporate natural healing modalities? Yes. He gives gifts of healings (1 Corinthians 12:28,30), with both Greek words being in the plural. So there are many ways He can and does bring about full restoration. All praise goes to Him regardless of which ways He chooses to use!

A note - Thirteen months later

Well I check for Afib symptoms twice a day on my iPhone using the simple device Kardia. It is about 95% gone at this point in time. About 5 weeks ago I started a new product which has proven  to be very helpful. It is “heart tonic.”  We also just got the book (and watched a video series) by “The Paleo Cardiologist by Jack Wolfson. I can highly recommend each of the above as they have been instrumental in promoting my health. I also find Cardiac Calm Px and Heart Defense very helpful along of course with living at peace, tuned to my heart and celebrating that God has healed my heart and it beats in perfect sinus rhythm.
