It is one month before national elections. With so many accusations
and counter accusations, it is sometimes bewildering as one tries to
figure out where the candidates stand and who to vote for. We have a
mandate to vote for righteousness. The Bible says that God
will exalt a nation if it is righteous (Prov. 14:34), but a
wicked nation He will destroy (Deut. 9:4).
As Jesus taught us, command, “Thy will be done on earth as it
is in heaven.” I encourage you to join me in praying as King David
prayed. Let us command righteousness to be exalted and wickedness to
be undermined.
To “meditate”
upon the Bible involves speaking it! Death and life are in
the power of the tongue (Prov. 18:21). Let us agree with King David
the Psalmist in daily declaring aloud the
confessions below from now until our national elections, November
4th.

A 30 day confession concerning the wicked and the
righteous
Lord, cause the evil of the wicked to come to an end!
Let the wicked be caught in the plots which they have devised!
Break the arm of the wicked and the evildoer; seek out his
wickedness until You find none.
The arms of the wicked will be broken; But the Lord sustains the
righteous.
Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be
condemned.
The wicked will perish; and the enemies of the Lord will be like the
glory of the pastures, they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.
As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the
fire, so let the wicked perish before God.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by safely.
Lord, keep all who love You, But destroy all the wicked.
Lord, protect the strangers; support the fatherless and the widow,
but thwart the way of the wicked.
Lord, support the afflicted; bring down the wicked to the ground.
Lord, set Your face against evildoers. Cut off their memory from the
earth.
Lord, establish the righteous.
Lord, bless the righteous man, surround him with favor as with a
shield.
Lord, Your eyes are toward the righteous and Your ears hear my cry.
Lord, I cry out to You for deliverance. I know You hear me because I
am righteous through the shed blood of Jesus. Deliver our nation
from evil.
Lord, You deliver us out of all oppression.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord Most High. Glory to Your Name
forever and ever. Amen

Yes,
Eva… the joy of the Lord on your face, in your heart, on

This is what I call you to – nothing as dramatic as you
would like – simply the joy of the Lord that makes me
visible.
This
joy is the product of closeness to me, the result of having
been in my presence. It expresses fervor and gratitude, and a
contagious spirit of caring.
Here
is good advice: stay in your room until you have dealt with
negative feelings, bad moods, unwillingness to obey – pour
them out to me, your savior and liberator. And when you are
ready – go out and conquer the world for me with the
radiance of joy, with the smile of delight, with the word or
gesture of compassion.
Sounds
easy? It isn’t. Will it guarantee success? It won’t. But
in the midst of it all I promise you my peace. I embrace you
with my love, and I equip you with my power. Thank you so

When
your heart and your will are open towards me – nothing else
is needed for us to be friends. Don’t worry about what you
do or don’t do; keep declaring what you know about my
attitude and feelings towards you, rather than expecting
rebuke from me.
By
programming yourself for guilt, you give satan an open door.
You are a much harder taskmaster than I am. True, I want to
bring you to a greater willingness to die to yourself, your
demands and your fears – but, as you know, my way is not
your way.
My
way is one of tender love, founded on my having died for you.
I love you so much that I want to bring you ever closer to me,
to make you desire to become like me so much that all your
demands and fears dwindle into nothingness.
Live
in me, abide in me, share yourself with me – that will
become knowing and wanting what pleases me. It does not
require some strenuous program, or a list of do’s and don’ts.
I came to free you from such legalism. I came to fulfill the
law. Fulfilling means enriching, revitalizing, clarifying. It
brings life – resurrected life.

Humor
Heals – The Rabbi’s Son
There once was a Rabbi whose son was quickly reaching adulthood. The
Rabbi felt his son just didn't have the appreciation for the Jewish
religion that an adult should have so he decided to send him on a
trip to the Holy Land to get a first-hand look at Jewish culture.
The boy came back from the trip and the father was asking him how
it went.
“Oh it was really great, Dad, thanks! But, I must tell you that
I’m a Christian now.”
The father was none too pleased and felt he had to do something,
but didn't know what. He went to a fellow Rabbi and told him the
situation.
The Rabbi exclaimed, “Don’t look at me! I sent my son to
Jerusalem and he came back a Christian also.” Their combined
opinion was that it was a conspiracy and decided to go to the Head
Rabbi.
The Head Rabbi exclaimed, “Don't look at me! I too sent my son
to Jerusalem and he came back a Christian. This is something we MUST
pray over.”
All three kneeled and prayed, and God answered, “Don’t
look at me....”

After reading that movies are the leading method of influencing this
generation, two Baptist pastors, Alex and Stephen Kendrick, formed
Sherwood Pictures, a media ministry with the aim of producing
positive and inspiring films without sex, violence or profanity.
Following the success of their first two movies, Flywheel and Facing
the Giants, their latest film, Fireproof, opened in theaters
September 26th.
Patti and I just saw this movie, and we want to encourage each of
you to see it if you possibly can. First, it is a great story with
an important message. The Dove Foundation states: “It is a
wonderful movie with dashes of humor and plenty of drama including
exciting rescue scenes. Due to a sophisticated theme, FIREPROOF is
more for the over-age-12 set. We gladly award five Doves, our
highest rating, to this picture. Every couple in America should see
this film! It is a life-changing experience. Viewers will never be
able to look at marriage in the same way again.”
But besides the personal enjoyment we all get from watching a
really good movie, we also want to express our support of those who
are doing such a wonderful job bringing the kingdom of entertainment
under the Lordship of Christ. These “roaring lambs” deserve our
appreciation and support.
So why not make it a date with the one you love? You’ll be glad
