Positioning ourselves during this time of terrorism

As the nation and the world struggle to cope with the newfound fear of terrorism, I would repeat what the Lord told me and I shared in my last newsletter: "God is still on the throne, and we should give ourselves to that which He has called us to do."  Inactivity is a great breeding ground for fear.  However, if you are passionately completing the things God has placed in your life to do, your mind will stay active on positive things and not be dragged into fear and dismay.

Where are our eyes fixed?

Also, it is important for you to know where you are fixing your eyes.  Are they on the works of satan or are they where they are supposed to be - on Jesus?

God still works all things together for good!!!

It appears God is going to allow the nation and the world to walk in an ongoing tension with terrorism for a period of time.  I believe He fully intends and desires to bring many good things out of this, which may include national and world unity, a restoration of patriotism, a unifying of our Congress, greatly enhanced church attendance and many new souls being brought into the Kingdom.  In addition, this is our opportunity as Christians to model peace in the midst of turbulence, and to share peace with our troubled neighbors.

Obviously God is still watching over us with His love, for we know that nothing can separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:38,39). I encourage you all to journal and see what the Lord is saying to you about this time and what your response is to be.  Send in your journal entries to me at mark@cluonline.com.  I will share them in my future newsletters.  We have the voice of God.  We can know how we are to respond.  Our lives cannot be taken until God ordains it.  I surely assume that if we are listening to Him, He will lead us away from any place we should avoid in order to walk in safety.  So we are held in His hands.  Our life and our death are in His hands.  Can we not peacefully rest in that?

Intercessory focus

I asked Dr. Gary Greig, a prophetic intercessor to whom I look as one of my spiritual counselors, what the Lord was saying to him concerning this time.  Following is his response.

"What we sense the Lord saying about how to pray as we enter the war against terrorism is that there are more waves of terrorist attacks coming and to pray that the Holy Spirit will uncover them before they happen. We also sense that God wants us to be praying that the Lord would not allow the attacks to happen all at once, but that He would stagger them; that the Church would be shaken awake to pray in unity in gatherings and solemn assemblies; that we would pray for Christian leaders and intercessors to be vigilant in prayer; that the openness of Americans' hearts to the gospel would be harvested for the Kingdom and the opportunity not lost."

A journal entry from Karen Walker, a Christian Leadership University student (9/1/01)

"My child, do not close Me out. I am whispering to you gently. You know My love. I have held you while you healed. You ask Me to cleanse your heart. I am sorry it is painful, but it must be so.  You know I am using a sharp knife to make the cut quick and clean. I made you selfless and beautiful. Your self-consciousness has turned your focus.  Don't worry how you look to the world --- even to your brothers and sisters.  Turn back to Me and I will concern Myself with your concerns.

"You say you fear you are losing your balance. I take that fear away right now. You cannot have too much of Me.  You cannot know Me too well.

"Of course, there will be those who do not understand --- even your loved ones will doubt your sanity.  But know, My daughter, they wouldn't understand My Son either.  You are in good company!"

Are you sharing the truths of Communion With God with your friends, like this student is?

"I have finally started the course Communion With God.  I have two friends who will be doing the course with me, although neither of them will be doing it for credit.  As both of these women are also mothers of small children, coordinating our schedules has been a challenge.  We met for the first time yesterday and I know God is going to stretch and grow us all.  Already I am in awe of what God has said to me as I have been attempting to tune into that spontaneity.  I wonder now how it is that we even attempt to be Christians without learning how to hear His voice.  I am so thankful that you took the time to experiment with God and have been faithful to the task of passing on what God has shown you.
In Him,
Lynda Russett"
