God Counsels Through a Dream – Ann McIntosh, a CLU Student
First let me say that I work for New York City Transit, so I am in the transportation business. [This is important because God often uses our everyday surroundings as the setting and symbols for our dreams.] Anyway, in my dream I am speaking to this teacher – she was a radiology professor – and this bus pulls up alongside us and the driver says, “You are late for your shift. I almost gave your shift away.” So here I am with the teacher, and I am shocked because I don’t drive a bus. So I said to the guy, “I did not apply for this job. As a matter of fact, I still have my job and haven’t even resigned from my job. I don’t know how to drive a bus.” So the teacher says, “Get in and I will teach you how to drive a bus.”

I get in the bus and she begins to tell me what to do. So I am driving this bus, have no idea how to operate the bus, how to collect the money or even how to open the doors. I pick up the first passenger after fumbling with the door and explaining to her that I am new at this. She pays her fare – I have no idea where to put the money or anything. I continue driving and the teacher disappears saying I am doing fine. I am nervous but getting comfortable. There are a few people on the bus.

Lo and behold there is a huge detour. I don’t know what to do. I have never driven a bus, much more know what to do. I stop at the light and the policeman shows me the detour to make the right. The entire three long blocks are blocked off; I don’t know what to do. I come to a point in the road where I have to make a left turn but the road is divided into a fork. Should I go right or left? I am scared because I don’t want to miss the passengers waiting for the bus. I decided to go to the far right and I see a passenger and I wake up.

Ann’s reflections on her dream: I know that I thought about a new job and relocating but not as a bus driver. The teacher was a lady I haven’t seen in over 20 years but she was an excellent teacher in radiology where we worked before. She was the teacher part of me; I had something to teach someone. I also thought that a bus is huge for holding more people and I am in the driver’s seat (in control of the situation). There was no need to collect money from the people as salvation is free.

I see the detour as turning away from the path that I was on to a different path the Lord has for me. When I came to the fork in the road I had to make a choice as to which road I will take and as I chose the right path I found more people to witness to or to help.

The fact that I did not ask for the job told me that whatever I have to do for the Lord is an assignment given to me by Him. That I don’t know how to drive the bus and the teacher came along says to me that I may not know exactly what I am assigned to do but God will send a helper for me – could be the Holy Spirit or someone else. That is my take on the dream.

Ann’s journaling after the dream: I asked the Lord “How can I use my upcoming CLU degree in Christian Counseling to serve your people?”

He said the following: “To ‘bridge the gap’ so others can see hope. They can cross over to a new life of hope. Many are hurting and are waiting for what you have to offer. You offer them hope, hope to see a future, hope to know me and see what I have done in your life. You will bridge the gap.”

So I said to the Lord, “Where will I find the people, Lord?” and He said, “They are all around you, waiting and hoping to hear the Word. The field is white, the harvest is ready. Speak the Word into their hearts. They are hungry – feed them my Word. That is how you serve me. Many are hungry for the Word and don’t know where to turn but I have chosen you to feed them. Feed my sheep. Speak and they will listen. Many will come to me.” (At this time I am writing and my hands are shaking, nervous.)

So I asked the Lord, “Did you say you have chosen me?” He said, “Yes, I have chosen you to feed my sheep. I will be with you always even to the end of the earth. Go in my name and accomplish what I have sent you to do.”

I’ve even shared with one of my school teachers how to hear God’s voice, too. She said she had been a Christian all of her life but she had never heard His voice speak to her.

This all has brought me closer to Jesus. If I hadn’t met with Gina these months to learn to hear God’s voice, I don’t know where I’d be right now. Gina helped me so much that I was then able to help a friend who was considering suicide. I taught her to hear God’s voice for herself in the girl’s bathroom at school. Once she heard what God had to say to her about how much He loved her and the great plans He had for her life, she decided not to kill herself.

Dreams, visions and journaling from Ayano Assefash of Geneva, Switzerland

How the Lamad Style of Learning and My Dialogue with God Has Affected and Changed My Life
The Lamad style of learning has really changed my life, the way I live, the way I think and the way I move is now totally different from what it has used to be. I am blessed to be a part of this teaching and thank God for those who gave me this opportunity and give thanks to God who helped me to start and to complete. I am really glad to learn how to communion or how to dialogue with God through journaling.

Though I was Christian for long time, I didn’t even know how to separate what is from heart and what is from head. Now, I can easily talk to God and can hear Him talking to me. I dialogue with Him through journal, especially when I want to be sure of what I hear or what I want to know. When I seek direction, understanding and wisdom, I go to Him through my journal and hear from Him as He talks to me through the flow of His Holy Spirit.

This course increased my trust, faith and belief in God. I learn how to totally depend on the Holy Spirit; I understand that there is no Spirit life and divine encounter without fellowship with the Holy Spirit. I can sense the flow of His presence when I am alone, when I am with group or in Sunday services. Whenever I seek His face, He shows up, whenever I ask Him questions, silly or bright, He responds; and whenever I knock at His door, He opens it for me and I enter His gate through the blood of Jesus and talk to Him.

Through the Lamad style of learning, Jesus became my close friend, my comforter, my counsellor and my everything. When I have any question or when I face any challenge, I go to Him through journaling and fix my eyes on Him and talk to Him and hear what He says to me. I also experience abiding in Him and moving in Him by faith. As I am taught here that the abiding realities are faith, hope and love and these three are the heart of the Kingdom. I practice things that keep me closer to Him; things that make me live daily in hope, love and faith.

Even long before I was a believer, from my childhood, I am used to dreams, visions and spontaneous flashes of images. I use to see them very often, but since few years, theses experiences blocked within me because of my unbelief and negligence. Through the teaching about dreams and visions, I asked forgiveness from the Lord for my failures, I mean for disregarding His gifts and rejecting the visual capacity that He has given me. I also asked Him to restore that precious gift of dreams within my inner heart and eyes to the divine flow of His vision. Now, by the grace of God, I can see dreams and see visions, when I do not understand what I see, I go to the Lord through journaling and He amazingly interprets them. I would like to share my recent dialogue with God about dreams.

Dream and journaling from January 29 – Beautiful flowers all around!
These days, as I am close to finish the CLU courses, I start to ask the Lord to show me what I can do next? Which way He wants to lead me? And where can I start?

In the night vision, I think I was away from home for long time, as I return to the house, starting at the entrance, I saw all sorts of different colours of beautiful flowers arranged in nice vases all on the floor. In admiration, I look and move around and say to my self, who collect all these flowers? I see no body in the house, who wants to surprise me like this? The house was full of flowers and there was no space to even move around and later I entered the next room and it was the same, full of flowers. I was very amazed and happy for I have never seen any surprise like that in my entire life and unfortunately I woke up.

For three days, I meditate on this dream; I couldn’t stop myself from thinking what it could be. I knew it is something good, but still I wanted to know what God is speaking to me and then I turn to the Lord through journaling and He made it clear for me.

“Lord, what do you want to show me through dream? I know it is something flourishing, something exciting but I really want to know the detail and need Your help.”

He said, “These flowers represent my people, those of different ages and different colours. You see these flowers, though they look beautiful and attractive, they are fragile, they are cut from the root and arranged temporarily in the vase, they are easily broken and get dry and even die if you do not take care and pay attention to them. They can be destroyed in short time if they are not watered and nurtured properly.”

“Lord, please make it clear in the way I understand.”

He said, “Surely, I will make it clear to you, now that you are fully equipped, can you reach out to these people? Can you pay attention to the hurting and fragile people around you? Many people, old and young, white and black they need counselling and restoration prayer, can you minister healing to their hurting hearts? Many look for My love and affection, somebody need to take care of them to show the way. Can you love them as I love them and show them my goodness and mercy? They will not get dry or die; they will live and be strong and effective if they live in Me.”

“Lord, please show me, for I do not see many people like that around me.”

“Yes, you do not see them with the eyes of your mind, open your heart and look through the eyes of your heart and you will see them all around you.”

Dream and journaling from January 27 - A home rebuilt 
In my night vision, I saw my parent's previous residence where I was born and grew up. It is long time since I saw this house with my physical eyes, but very often, I see dreams attached to this old house where all my childhood souvenir and memories are laid. At this moment, I do not even know if somebody lives in it. In reality, this house was taken away by force from my parents during the communist regime in Ethiopia and it was rented by the government to different people and as a result many strangers lived in it. No body took care of that house for many years and it is almost forsaken and I think by now it is of no use.

In my vision, as I enter the house, I saw many people working on it as if it is new building. The owner of the house is my father, I do not see him around but I knew that he is the one who gave the order for the renovation of that old house. Amazingly, I run from one room to another, all is perfectly done and restored. And at last when I look up to the roof, the ceiling of the house was not yet finished. In my heart, I say it will not take long, we will take it back, we are going to live in this house again, it will finish soon and etc … and then I woke up.

The next day, my mind was so busy thinking about this dream. I really wanted to know what God is speaking to me through this dream. What is this reparation of old house and what is the unfinished ceiling mean? And later in the evening the idea of journaling came to my mind and as I did, God spoke to me.

I hear the Lord saying to me, "This old house is you, it is your body that is sick for long time, and the enemy has taken your body captive through different diseases for long time. I know what you are going through in life; I see your fear and your anxiety. I want to heal you completely, not only your body that I want to restore but your soul and your spirit that I really want to restore, heal and establish. Those people you see building, those working hard, they are the people who are praying for your total restoration; they pray for you, they counsel you and the care for you. You have so many questions about your life, your health and ministry. The time has come for you; I will heal and restore you physically and spiritually. I will make you new, I will restore health to you, I will build and make you useful again if you trust and surrender yourself fully to Me."

I said, "Thank You, Lord, but what about the ceiling? What do You want to tell me through the unfinished ceiling of the roof?" The Lord said, "It is your mind, your intelligence that keeps you from flowing in Me and from growing in My Spirit. I want to talk to your heart, not to your mind, you have to surrender to Me fully and I will work on your soul and mind as I work on your body and your spirit."

I say, "Yes Lord, thank You for my healing and restoration, thank You for talking to me through this dream. I am willing to surrender to You fully, soul body and spirit. Please help me to honour, love and worship You all the days of my life."

Through these teachings, my relationship with the Lord became very strong, I feel that I am living, moving and having all my being in Him, He united me to Himself. My relation with the Lord is healed and restored; He is no more far away from me. He lives in me and I live in Him, we became one as I obey and do His commandments. I learn to come to Him every day, every hour and every moment of my life. I abide in Him through His Holy Spirit as my wisdom, my righteousness, redemption and sanctification, I let Him live through me.

The most important thing I learn through this course is fixing my eyes upon Jesus. Who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. The Almighty God, who is Emmanuel, God is with us. Before, I came to the Lamad style of teaching; I use to magnify and make mountains of every big and little pains and hurts and lived in fear of every thing. Now, without even thinking, I find myself at the feet of Jesus. I see how big He is, bigger than my pains, my troubles and sickness. I declare that nothing is impossible with Him. He can do anything, He is the Omnipresent God, and He is the Omniscient and Omnipotent God.

I learn to trust in Him for anything, I no more make my problems an idol and worship it; I worship the only True and Living God; He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Jesus is Supernatural God and He made me naturally supernatural. He is above all other things I know; there is no God beside Him. Supernaturally, He flows through me to give me dreams, visions, intuitions, supernatural wisdom, might and power.

I also learn how to handle my emotions and feeling when I am with small group and even when I meet with other people. I see growth and change in myself to the degree that it astonishes me. My relationship with my husband is very much improved, all of a sudden; I become a woman of understanding and wisdom. I learn speaking the truth in love and became more assertive, I was passive before I came to the Lamad style of teaching, I now learn how to discipline myself to say no when it is no and yes when it is yes. I no more let people to manipulate me or waste my time for nothing. I no more follow anybody around; I learn to make use of my time, money and energy.

Through all the courses, God asked me to repent sins, transgressions, failures and weaknesses. And He showed me how to change the way I think and react by speaking to me through journaling without condemning and putting guilt on me. I believe that I now learn how to minister effectively in a small and large group under the anointing of God as I communion with the Holy Spirit. When I go back to ministry, I think I will not be the same person again. God changed so many things in me and I am now very careful to not draw attention to myself and my personal ability; I am also aware of not making any kind of spectators and show of myself. And also I do not have to make people build their faith upon me, for in past, I did that without even knowing it. I learn to let the Lord take the glory, honor and praise for everything.

Before I take these courses, I struggle to discern or to identify between the voice of the destructor and the builder, the accuser and the approver and the negative and the positive. Continually there was battle in my mind and heart that used to confuse me at times. I now learn how to discern the voice of the Lord from the voice of the devil. I no more carry guilt, condemnation or any accusation around with me. In past, I think I missed many, many blessings of the Lord because of my lack of discernment. God loved and accepted me as I am; He has also forgiven all my sins without exception. He is asking me to reject all the lies of the devil and to replace them with His truth and to have sober spirit, to stand still and to be on the alert. God is asking me to look toward to the future and not to dwell in past, He also encourages me toward wholeness.

In past, I was hurt and even emotionally destroyed by the people I use to trust, and by those I serve with and call them church leaders. It took me long time to heal, but without knowing it, I built a wall of protection around me and decided not to fully submit; not to trust and not to commit myself to any thing. Of course, I have a church where I attend regularly and serve partially. Recently, though this teaching, God showed me the importance of spiritual covering or protective covering. And also He showed me the importance of submission to a leader or to a body of Christ. I learn that it is for my own protection that I should submit under spiritual authority or their umbrella. It can keep me from self-deception and the deception of Satan. I now willingly forgive those who hurt me in past and decide to fully submit and serve under my church's spiritual leaders those who are responsible for my soul, I allow them to correct, approve, encourage and nourish me in my Christian walk.

Regarding God's grace, before I did these courses, as I was not taught how to focusing upon the Lord, I use to focus on my spiritual weaknesses and made my life miserable. I often feel condemned and see how insufficient, unfaithful and sinner I was. And this thinking prevented me from stepping forward in confidence to use my strength through grace.

At times I feel hopeless, failure and inadequate in the channel of God's grace in my life. Today, I understand that God is not fault finder, He is not mad at me every time I fail to do something right; and He is not after me to condemn me for every wrong moves. I am righteous before Him not because of my good deeds or my quest for holiness. By His grace, I now see myself as God's righteous, pure and holy with the holiness of God's Son. Because I have died with Christ and sin has no more power over me. All I have to do is to "focus on Jesus and receive His free grace and live in victory. I have recon myself as a temple of the Lord, and allow my spirit to flow in accordance with the Living Spirit of God that flows within me.

My life has changed in so many ways, the level of my faith; my knowledge and my understanding regarding the word of God, church and ministry are very improved. In my personal life, I become self conscious; my heart is aware of big and small sins. These days, I am very careful in using my words and also I start to listen to people carefully without cutting or interrupting their conversation. I become sensitive to the Holy Spirit and by God's grace I resist temptations more than ever. I believe grace and wisdom is at my side.

I am going to take time and revise all that I learn through the CLU courses and apply them to my personal life in a much better way. I will share these teachings with others as God gives me grace and courage.
