“Father, it has been a while since I have journaled... no excuses... I have
wandered and have not been faithful in spending time with You lately. I present
myself before You... what do You want to say?”
Reply: “Mike, you are Mine. Forever. Though you do not remain faithful, I
will always remain faithful. I will always remain true to My covenant and My
commitment to you and to My people. That will never change. Yet, it does not
benefit our relationship and intimacy when you allow yourself to drift away. It
is in My presence where change takes place; it is in My presence that you will
see correctly, where life's experiences and happenings will come into proper
perspective. When there is a choosing to live elsewhere, other than My presence,
there will be an inaccurate seeing and understanding. Remember David My servant,
he said, 'until I went into your sanctuary… then I understood….'
“The longer you live in My presence, the more you will begin to see and to be
able to see as I see and to properly assess life and the circumstances and
experiences of life. Life's experiences can often cause one to come to an
improper conclusion about Me, about truth and about My word. When there is not a
seeing, or a filtering of life through My eyes, you will come to a wrong
understanding and you will draw from your own understanding and wisdom (the
knowledge of the tree of good and evil). It is either the tree of life or the
tree of the knowledge of good and evil that you will be partaking of.
“In My word, it says to abide in Me and I in you. To dwell in Me, in My
presence, to abide, to stay, to continue, and to remain fixed in My presence. It
is a state of heart that I have called you and each one of My children to live
in. It is there that there will be eternal fruit. It is there that your fruit
will remain. It is there that there will be an evidence of My touch upon your
life that will outflow to others. Many of My children want the quick touch and
at times it is necessary, but not at the expense of not abiding and living in My
presence.

must learn to practice My presence, to over and over and over focus your

Behind Prison Walls:from

“Thank you for your prayers and for your love. The theology class here in
Greenville is doing fine. I have about 10 faithful students who are excited
about what God is doing in their lives. We started BIB103 about three weeks ago.
Classes are Monday and Thursday from 6:30 – 8:30.”
Following is part of Derrick's salvation testimony. Notice how God uses
dreams to call people to salvation.
“He loved me so much that He gave my girlfriend a dream that I got shot in the
head with two guns in my possession. The setting of my life was congruent with
the dream. I ran a drug house and I was a notorious tyrant in the neighborhood
that carried two guns. I was appalled, but delighted to know that the Creator of
the universe was mindful of me, dispensing mercy before judgment. I sought godly
counsel by calling my aunt who is a pastor and telling her the dream that was
placed on my girlfriend's heart.
“She directed me to go and see her friend, who is a pastor, and ex-drug dealer
and user. I can remember her saying, 'Go now, Derrick, please don't
procrastinate. God has a call on your life.' When I arrived in the presence of
the minister, within thirty minutes of hearing his testimony I began to say the
sinner's prayer. When I confessed that Jesus died for my sins and God raised Him
from the dead, light began to shine in the darkness….”
