Age
91 and Journaling!
“Since I attended your seminar on ‘Communion with God’ last January
(followed up by studies in our Sunday School), my life with Jesus has been
revolutionized through daily journaling. The greatest gift I have received
through this is a new picture of myself. My life has always been based on the
conviction that ‘I have to prove that I am worth having around.’ In over 40
years as a Christian this did not basically change until Jesus, over and over
again, with gentle patient encouragement told me how He sees me. Now at 91, I
often feel I’ve just begun to truly live as if it is not I who lives, but
Christ who lives in me, and each day is a new adventure. Here is a sample of a
message (excerpt of yesterday’s):
“‘Just stay filled with Me. Nothing is more precious to Me than the
hunger in My children to know Me better; to learn to die to themselves, which
simply means to realize how much more satisfying, lasting, meaningful, joyous,
is the life My Father wants to give you: the life of the risen Christ. To find
eternally valid answers like Paul did. Just keep tuned, keep yearning, keep
expecting, keep trusting. A thousand years may be like a day for Me, but also a
day thus lived has the value of a thousand years.’
“May you and your family have a very blessed Christmas! I am very grateful for
you and your faithful ministry. In His love, Eva Wilkinson.”
Ministry
in Korea
I had three very successful seminars in Korea, all through translators. The
first was Prayers
That Heal the Heart. It was amazing to watch well over 100 people receive
deliverance as they broke up into 22 groups with 22 group leaders ministering to
them. I took one group and ministered deliverance through a translator. The
power of God setting people free was awesome to see. All across the sanctuary
deliverance was occurring, and the manifestations were more intense than they
are here in the U.S. I assume that may be because there are stronger demonic
strongholds as many have been recently converted to Christianity from other
religions.
The second seminar was Dream
Interpretation, and again it was astounding to be able to interpret 6-8
dreams in front of a group of several hundred. Even though I was working through
a translator and dealing with another culture, the principles
of Christian Dream Interpretation worked beautifully, and people’s hearts
leapt when they heard the right interpretation.
The final seminar was Communion
With God with over 100 present, and they all began to journal and many came
to the front to share their journaling. Many made commitments to begin home
groups where they would take their friends through the new How to Hear God’s
Voice book, available in Korean.
The anointing of God is amazing! May you all be encouraged to take these courses
and seminars to your friends and into other cultures. Everything works!
A
Sunday Morning at Dr. Yonggi Cho's Church: The World’s Largest
Since I was not teaching on Sunday morning (I taught on Sunday afternoon and
evening), Patti and I were able to attend the 11:00 AM Sunday morning service at
Yoido Full Gospel Church in Seoul, Korea. This
is the church where Dr. Paul Yonggi Cho is the senior pastor. It has seven
services on Sunday which are simulcast to 17 different locations. We were at the
main sanctuary which seats 11,000 people.
The 11,000 from the 9:00 AM service streamed out through the back doors, while
11,000 new worshippers streamed in through the front doors of the sanctuary. It
all happened in 10 minutes. Worship began at 20 minutes before 11:00. The
service went from 11:00 – 12:30 and not a soul left their seats during the
entire time. We were in a balcony where there were headphones, and we dialed to
English, which was one of eight languages the service was being translated into.
Statistics: 750,000 members, 500 pastors, 500 districts and 100,000
elders and deacons. At any point in time, 10,000 people are at Prayer Mountain
engaged in prayer. Cho publishes a newspaper which is the 5th largest
newspaper in Korea.
We observed a 200-300 member choir accompanied by a full professional orchestra,
and a huge pipe organ. Cameras, some on robotic arms, taped the entire service.
PowerPoint displays were present throughout the service. A handout of the day’s
sermon notes was distributed along with the church bulletin. Ours was in
English.
Dr. Cho (age 70) preached powerfully and extemporaneously on “The Third
Heaven, Heaven in Our Heart.” It was an inspiring sermon of the kingdom and
power of God which IS resident within us to heal the sick, cast out demons and
remove spiritual and physical poverty. He had everyone lay their hands on their
hearts and pray for physical healing and to cast out demons. Cho led people in
several confessions as he preached. In addition to healing and deliverance, Cho’s
church cultivates millionaires. He currently has between 50 and 100 millionaires
as members in his church.
We sang together the Lord’s Prayer and recited together the Apostles’ Creed.
The worship was fully professional and heartfelt. Communion was served (in less
than 10 minutes), and the singing which occurred during communion caused the
Holy Spirit to fall. You could see tears streaming down people’s faces.
For Patti and me, it was a very memorable experience. Dr. Cho has had a profound
impact on our lives. Many years ago he taught us through his book The
Fourth Dimension that “pictures are the language of the heart.” Much
of our ministry has come out of applying that understanding to various areas of
our lives – healing, deliverance, communion with God, divine creativity, and
fulfilling our destinies. So we are personally deeply indebted to Dr. Cho, and
it was an honor to attend a service at the largest church in the history of the
world, and to sense a bit of what makes it tick. Lord, may many others follow in
his footsteps.
