God
Communicates Through Dreams!
The birth and early years of Jesus' life were surrounded by five dreams and
three visions. God's revelation, purposes and protection were given through
these dreams and visions. To miss them would have meant missing the purposes of
God in that generation.
The following is a brief excerpt from Rev. Rudolf Swanepoel's final paper for
the course, “Wisdom
Through Dream Interpretation” available from Christian Leadership
University. Pastor Rudolf is the senior pastor of The Cross Community Church in
Elyria, Ohio.
“One night I dreamed that I was part of a highly successful baseball team. I
was a well-respected member of the team and did not want to let the team down in
any way. It was my turn to step up to the plate. The pitcher gave me his best
ball and I hit the ball out of the park! I did not run for the home run. I
waited for another pitch. He tried every ball in his repertoire. I thought that
this was just too easy. Every ball he pitched at me ended up out of the park.
Even the dreaded curve ball I knew I could not hit. Then the setting of the
dream changed and I was the pitcher and the opposition fielded their best
hitters. I pitched at the best of my ability and no one could hit any of my
pitches. They all struck out!
“I was very excited about this dream. Being a native South African, I did not
grow up with baseball. I have a working knowledge of the game, but I would not
be comfortable playing on any competitive level. When the Lord called us to
become missionaries to America we left the familiarity of ministry in South
Africa and joined the 'foreign flavor' of ministry in the U.S. The people are
different. The way they do things are different. I was like a cricket player (a
game we play in South Africa) on a baseball court. I knew we were part of the
Lord's team because He called us here. Still I was nervous about my abilities. I
could hold my own in ministry in South Africa, but what would happen in America?
The Lord assured me that I would be able to handle every ball! No matter what
the challenge, circumstance or attack, I would hit it out of the park! Even the
situations (curve balls) I normally had difficulties with. The Lord also assured
me that all my efforts (pitches) would hit the mark. They would not be hit away.
They will penetrate and accomplish what they were designed to do.
“This has been a tremendous confidence-building dream to me personally. I was
surprised that the Lord would put me in a setting of a game that I really had no
or little interest in, but it made so much sense. All apprehension is gone and
I'm swinging at every ball the ministry, circumstances or the enemy throws at
me. I am highly confident in the abilities the Lord has given me, purely because
of the reassurance He gave me in the form of a dream.” (Click

Communion
With God Stimulates Divine Creativity in Worship and the Arts Jan Balch writes the following: “Since learning how
to communicate with God through your course,
I have been able to significantly reduce the time it takes to centre myself on
Him. This has come in handy through the worship time at church as God
repeatedly shows me visions and communicates with me. (Although, earlier on I
tried not to listen as He told me to draw in church!)
“Finally, God used my pastor as the kicker to get me moving in the area He
wanted. My pastor came to me and said, 'Jan, you should bring your
sketchbook and draw in church!' I argued a bit, this was not of my upbringing.
My first reaction was to say, 'But pastor! People will think I am ignoring
your message...not paying attention!' He laughed and said, 'Dear, if God
gives you a gift, you are to use it to worship Him! Learn to use it His way
and He will bless it!'
“So, stepping out in faith, I brought my sketchbook to church and
began receiving visions through worship that I sketched. These visions
in many cases were prophetic in the areas of God's pouring out, God's making of
warriors for His kingdom...etc. My pastor then decided I should take this
one step further and built me an easel! 'This is too much, Lord!' I said, 'it
shouldn't be about me, it should be about You!' (Drawing in the back pew is one
thing; painting on an easel for all to see was another!) But, Jesus, being
faithful, comforted me and changed my heart...showing me that the work I do, I
do for Him, to bless others and share His impressions upon them. I began to
paint in church!”

Ukraine Counseling Ministry Uses Prayers
That Heal the Heart “In one large church in Nicolaiv, Ukraine the pastor's wife started a
very effective counseling ministry. When I asked how it began, she smiled and

“Dear Dr. Virkler,
“I am sooo excited to share this with you. Last night I experienced my first
(conscious) two-way dialoging with God through journaling.
I truly felt something physical throughout me as I fixed my eyes on Jesus, asked
Him a specific question (as suggested in your book)
and wrote His response to me. Here it is for your evaluation (I also sent it to
my spiritual advisor):
“I pictured Jesus holding His arms out to me, then embracing me. He then
kneeled down and sat me on His knee. I envisioned myself as a child at the time.
“Question: Dear heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, why is it that I am having such a
struggle right now in my life with food?
His reply: My precious little one, I do not desire for you to struggle so. I
placed you on this earth to enjoy your life and to fall in love with Me. I so
enjoy our time together and desire for you to turn to Me, not food. For food may
fill you temporarily, but I will fill you for eternity. You are so special and
precious to Me, little one. I love you. My wish is that you desire Me far more
than you desire food. For food will nourish your body, but only a relationship
with Me, your Maker, Counselor and Redeemer, will nourish your heart, mind and
spirit.
“I then asked: Dear Lord, how do I overcome my compulsion with food?
He replied: Renay, My child, you overcome this stronghold through Me. Let My
strength be your strength. Let My grace be your grace. Let ME edify you. Come to
Me and I alone will feed you. Turn to Me when you thirst and when you hunger,
and you will thirst and hunger only for more of Me. Let Me relieve you of your
burdens. Delight in MY glory, My precious child. You are made PERFECT through
ME! I love you, little one.

AWESOME and personal experience. What do you think? Is this coming directly from
