CLU
Students Write
“I am taking `Communion With God,’ `Gifted to Succeed’ and
`Women, God's Plan.’ I find all of these courses to be exhilarating,
uplifting, very informative, thought provoking but most of all, of
God.” Carolyn Bard
“I have really enjoyed the courses I have received from CLU. Many of the
things that I have learned I have thought about over the years but was never
able to put into words. Again, thank you.” Richard Martin II (a Quaker Pastor)
“To be honest, when I started the course, I was focused on the excitement of
being so close to getting my degrees that I was eager to simply plough into the
lessons and just get them done. But God had another plan. The way that the
course is written and presented does not allow one to simply study and
regurgitate knowledge. From the very outset I found myself forced to focus on
the spiritual dynamics of the truths being presented and was immediately
confronted by the Holy Spirit telling me, `Now I have your attention, you’re
not getting away!’ I was going to get what I desired (my degrees), but God was
going to get what He wanted first, which was `me.’" Rev. Robert Butler
A
New Book by Patti Virkler!
Patti Virkler has just finished writing a new book about raising
children according to the Spirit. It is called Rivers of Grace: Raising
Children to Live by the Spirit Rather than Law and is available for free
downloading from cwgministries.org/freebooks.
She is looking for comments, critiques and endorsements, so please send them to
her at TheLoveStory@hotmail.com.
The purpose of this book is to help you discover, open up, and enlarge the
channels by which God pours His grace into homes and families. It trains parents
how to break generational curses and sins, how to help their children live out
of the voice of God, how to apply the grace of the Holy Spirit rather than the
letter of the law, and much, much more. I believe you will love it. Let us know
your thoughts on this new book.
A
Dream and an Interpretation
The following dream is from Rev. Nigel and June Hamilton, friends
of ours from England who have headed up church schools in England for many
years, and were recently moved on by God to go back to the foreign mission
field. The dream discusses some inner dynamics concerning this move.
Nigel writes, "In making the transition, your input has been specially
helpful in two specific ways. Firstly, although we have been hearing `to the
nations’ from God for a long time, we were not sure about timing and could not
see how to get there from the local church situation that we were deeply
involved in. In the end, the move was much swifter and more radical than we had
imagined. (We had envisioned starting gently with some short trips, while
continuing to be considerably involved in our local church.) In dealing with
this, your experience was consistently before us, and we were able to see God's
hand, and to recognize that we had probably been dragging our feet - for which
we have repented!
“Secondly, we have both had a number of significant dreams during this time of
change, in which God has spoken to us clearly about the shape and character of
the ministry. The seminar that you gave on dreams and dream interpretation
helped us greatly in understanding what God was saying. I would like to share
one of these dreams and the interpretation that we found.
“In my dream I was at home in King's Road (this was where I grew up as a
child). I had to go out. I do not know what it was for, but it was the Lord's
business. I was looking for my scooter, as it would be cheaper than taking the
car. However I could not find it. It was not in the garage where it should have
been. Eventually, after asking, I found that Tim (my younger son) had borrowed
it and it needed petrol or some repair which he was attending to. I was feeling
frustrated. So I took the car, which was a very good one.
"I drove down the road and round a grassy path behind some houses. I think
that this might have been meant to be a short cut to where I was going, or it
was just the way to go. The path turned sharp left and led out towards the main
road. But the path down to the main road looked very steep. So I stopped.
"It was very warm and I had the air-conditioning on in the car to try to
cool it down while deciding what to do. Suddenly the door opened and a lady got
in the back. I knew that she lived in the house beside the steep path where we
were. She left the door open, so I said to her, `Madam, please would you shut
the door or I will have to turn the air-conditioning off and get out of the
car.’ She shut the door but I became aware that if I were to get the car
comfortable (reduce the heat) I would have to move. So I drove forward.
"The slope was very steep, and as we went slithering down, the lady said,
`Blow the horn!’ I groped for the horn, but we nevertheless slithered out and
onto the road. As I looked in the mirror I could see that the slope was made of
iron, and I could see the tire tracks down the slope. It was a miracle that we
had got down safely and without banging any pedestrians or crashing into any
traffic on the road. The lady squealed `Oo, ooo’ as we went down and then
said, `No one has been down there for 37 years.’
"Then I realized that Cathy (my daughter - who has been working in Malawi
for nearly six years and has set up a street-children's work for the local
church) was in the vehicle as well, and it had grown into a very large vehicle,
like a bus. She said something that I cannot remember, but I explained the
meaning to the lady. I said, `I think that she wants to tell her mother that she
is pregnant. This will make her mother very happy.’ Then I awoke.
My Interpretation - This is a subjective
dream
“I was in my Father's house, which is on the King's Road. I was on the
Father's business, but wanted to find a cheap way of going about it. The cheap
way is not going to work. So I set out in the car that God has provided for me.
As I go I come to a place of difficulty and stop to consider the way ahead. The
lady represents someone with local knowledge. I have to choose whether to stay
in the driving seat or get out of the car. She does not want to take control, or
for me to get out. The air-conditioning is not sufficient to reduce the heat, so
I realize that I must move ahead. I think that God is generating the heat, which
represents the discomfort of the situation.
“As I go forward, I am out of control, even though I am in the driving seat,
and I am not even able to sound a warning. However, God's protection is there,
not only over me and the lady, but also over the other people on the pavement
and the road.
“I do not understand the iron slope - I was expecting it to be ridged concrete
and so provide a good grip. Maybe it was just about being out of control.
“Cathy represents the passionate visionary part of me. This is pregnant with a
vision. The realization of this will make June happy. I think that she is
objectively represented in the dream at this point. In the rest of the dream I
think that she is included with me.
“Thirty-seven years ago was 1964. In that year I decided to quit my job and go
for teacher training. June became pregnant with Cathy. We were praying about
going to India.
“I think that the dream is about God's financial provision as well as about
being prepared to go ahead. It is clear that a cheapest solution will not be
right and that the ministry will grow as we go on.
“I think that the dream is confirming the direction that we are taking to make
the new ministry focus on training, especially teacher training.”
Herman Riffel, a master in dream interpretation, is CLU’s instructor for the
following course:
REN 310 Wisdom Through Dream Interpretation - 3 credits ($306.80) - The
Bible declares that God counsels us at night through our dreams (Ps. 16:7). The
dreams in the Bible illustrate this principle, and all of us can learn to hear
from God during the two hours of dream life we have each night. In this course,
you will examine all 50 dreams of the Bible seeing how God interprets the
symbolism and speaks to His children through their dreams. [This course is also
available on the graduate level - REN 510 Christian Dream Interpretation - 4
credits ($413.79)]
Steve & Dianne Bydeley will provide a 12-week personal e-mail mentoring
experience, where you may e-mail your dreams to them and receive guidance on
how to interpret them. The cost is $75 plus $20 for a book and workbook. If you
would like this to be counted as a three-credit “Dream Practicum” with CLU,
then you pay an extra $25 to CLU once you have completed this 12-week practicum.
For more information contact Steve and Dianne at info@lapstoneministries.org
or visit their website at www.lapstoneministries.org.
They can also be booked to do a Christian dream interpretation seminar at your
church.
Health
- Removing the Chlorine, Pesticides and Other Junk
In the last 20 years, Americans’ immune systems have been
weakened by 33%. I suspect part of this problem is the ingesting of many toxins
and poisons, one of which is chlorine, which shows up in drinking and cooking
water and as a chlorine steam in our showers. Now, all of these sources can be
easily and inexpensively removed. In just a few minutes, you can install a
shower filter ($27.50), and a counter top water filter on your kitchen sink
($129). I have purchased these items from Norm Gingerich a man who researches
continuously to find the best units at the best prices. He carries many items for
pure air and water, sized from commercial to home use, and will ship them to
your home. He also provides inexpensive replacement filters. If interested
contact Norm at 1-800-398-9833 or norm-carol@msn.com.
