LEARN Prayers That Heal the Heart Notebook

This 30-page Life Enrichment And Review Notebook is the Seminar Guide each person will be guided through.

Greater Internalization Through Previewing and Reviewing the Key Ideas

The LEARN notebook also gives you an opportunity to easily preview and review the teaching. None of us catches everything the first time through and as you review it several times, you will pick up things you did not hear before. More truths will begin to "click" and more lights come on!

This process of repeated review results in greater revelation and greater personal transformation. Jesus urged us to cultivate and give attention to new ideas being sown in our hearts until they bear a crop of 30, 60 or 100 fold (Matt. 13:18-23). So listen, review and focus until God has granted you personal revelation and transformation! Anything short of this causes the seed to be aborted and die. Hearing without doing is a waste, the Bible says (James 2:17).

Application Exercises Allow God to Speak Directly to Your Heart

Application exercises are included in the LEARN notebook for class times and for increasing personal revelation. Hearing a truth is one thing. Letting God speak to you concerning how to apply it in your life is another. These application exercises will give you the opportunity to seek God and ask Him what He wants to say to you concerning the truth, and how He wants to see it applied in your life. This is exactly what you need to hear and act upon. This is spiritual growth and development. Please review our short article on "How to Cultivate Christian Spirituality."

Seminar Speaker - Mark Virkler LIVE!! (The “How-To” Guy)

Mark Virkler

Mark Virkler is hilarious and transparent as he unfolds practical insights from the Word of God, showing you how to easily interact with the Holy Spirit on a continuous, ongoing basis and how to receive wisdom and power for successful Kingdom living.

"I could not hear God's voice for the first 10 years of my Christian life. I tried all the spiritual disciplines that were supposed to work and guess what, they didn't!

"I finally had a thought (hint: that was God's voice) that I should take a year and focus on learning to hear God's voice. I did. That year (1979) the Lord taught me four simple keys to hearing His voice. They have worked for ALL who have tried them. I will guide you into using these four keys during several workshops. You will discover that they WILL work for YOU!!!"  Hearing God's voice is as simple as quieting yourself down, fixing your eyes on Jesus, tuning to spontaneity and writing."

Endorsements

"Mark and Patti’s book goes a long way towards filling [the] ‘how-to’ gap. Their book is really a workbook, an invaluable hand-out for counselors to assign to their counselees. Much healing and transformation can result from its use."

– John Sandford
Co-founder of Elijah House

"Mark Virkler's new book is a very practical guide to how the keys to healing that are contained within Scripture can be applied with great effect in the life of a believer."

- Peter Horrobin
International Director of Ellel Ministries, England

"Dr. Mark Virkler’s Prayers That Heal the Heart deals in a comprehensive way with the prisons we find in our minds and hearts—prisons of repetitive sin, self-hatred, traumas and pain that seem never to go away, and demonic oppression and attacks. Many Christian leaders are still carrying wounds that only Jesus can heal, and these wounds become destructive time-bombs that Satan sets off to destroy leaders at the peak of their fruitfulness for God’s Kingdom. Prayers That Heal the Heart effectively helps to defuse these silent time-bombs by letting the Holy Spirit pinpoint the lies that need to be exposed and the memories that need to be healed. This book will show you how Jesus still heals the brokenhearted and sets the captive free."

Testimonies of Healed Hearts

Testimony from Paul Mortimer in England

“Thank you so much for your teaching and ministry. Our church is doing the “Hearing God’s Voice” course which is great. However, I noticed the “Prayers That Heal The Heart” advert in the seminar guide, and I’ve been going through the teaching. I’ve been a Christian for 25 years and I’m pretty well read. I’ve been struggling for many years with a terrible wound in my heart which has dominated my life. Like you, I was able to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit but was dogged by fears and dominated by traumatic pictures.

“I’ve read many, many books on curses, healing and deliverance and whilst I’ve had...demons cast out, the key root issues didn’t seem to be dealt with. After only a couple of days with your teaching, I have found amazing healing through the prayers, and in particular using vision to re-visit traumatic experiences of the past and see Jesus begin healing my wounded heart.

“As an example I had a dream of a deep sea diver, slowly descending into the deep darkness of the ocean with no rope, I woke up in great fear. So I journalled this, and Jesus explained that the diving suit was my self-protection and vows and the heavy boots were my sins and that he was going to jump in to set me free and swim to safety. This is being fulfilled through your teaching.

“For instance, after going through some of the prayers through vision, Jesus took me back to my childhood home, he took me through the house and upstairs into my parents bedroom. I saw myself standing next to their bed, they were asleep. I had a knife in my hand, and my hands were covered in blood. Then Jesus took me downstairs and out into the garden. We sat and chatted, and then I wiped my hands clean on his white robe. Amazing. This is only one instance.

“I’m opening the eyes of my heart to see Jesus in everything I do, I can now sit for hours and see Jesus come and heal and speak. Incredible. Priceless. Glorious. My life is being transformed daily, from one degree of glory to another. Your teaching (divine flow, life in the spirit, journaling, etc) is vital to anyone who truly wants to become all that Jesus is. For the first time I have real hope that Jesus can (and is) setting me free. Thanks again.”

How Jesus Healed the Emotional Turmoil in My Heart! by Dr. Mark Virkler

At age 15, when I accepted Jesus into my heart, I felt a wonderful new freedom in my spirit. I was absolutely bursting with joy in the Holy Ghost! However, 25 years later, that freedom was gone and emotional turmoil ruled in my heart. People and circumstances had hurt me, and in response, I had put up walls and embraced negative beliefs which had invited darkness and confusion back into my soul.

When someone hurt me, I remember saying, “People are evil and hurtful, and so I am going to withdraw myself from them.” There you go: I had established an ungodly belief and a corresponding inner vow. The ungodly belief is that people are evil and hurtful, and the inner vow is, “I am going to withdraw from them.” Of course satan and his demons were glad to help me with such beliefs and actions, and so they came and filled my heart with fear and defensiveness.

When Jesus healed this ungodly belief, He said, “Mark, people are hurting and that is why they hurt others. I want you to stay open and vulnerable to people and not withdraw yourself from them. If you do this, I will make you two promises: First, people will hurt you, and second, I will be standing right beside you and if you turn to Me, I will heal the hurt.”

I said “OK, Lord,” and God’s light flooded my darkened heart, as I removed an “anchor” that demons were using to attach themselves to me. This helped clear the way to cast them out through deliverance prayer.

Deliverance was not easy for me to begin to do. I had been taught that demons could not infest a Christian. Then an elder in my church approached me wanting deliverance for an uncontrollable sin. I, along with two other elders, prayed deliverance prayer and cast about five demons out of him. When I checked back with him over the following years, he confirmed over and over that that sin area was now controllable. Deliverance prayer was powerful!

So I entered the deliverance area and cast thousands of demons out of hundreds of Christians over the next several years. People testified to wonderful transformations in their lives. Then came a day when I spent 45 minutes shouting at a demon to leave in Jesus’ name, but, while the demon would manifest, it would not leave. I had no idea why a demon would not obey the name of Jesus, since every knee must bow to that Name. So in theological confusion, I stopped doing deliverance prayer.

Then ten years later, I needed deliverance because my heart was wounded and I lived in a state of constant battle with fear, fear of rejection, doubt, unbelief, anger, hatred, rage, and several other sins.

I discovered a wonderful Spirit-filled prayer counselor who together with her husband cast about 20 demons out of me in three hours. And I was free again! The war was over! The joy and peace were back! I was thrilled.

Because I wanted to keep the demons out, I spent the next two months searching for and memorizing verses which would close the door so these demons could not come back. I memorized verses on the opposite side of the coin from the issues I had been delivered from. For example, to keep anger out, I memorized verses on love and mercy and forgiveness. To keep fear out, I memorized verses on faith and trust and belief, and so on.

I also did extensive two-way journaling where I asked God what He wanted to show me about these areas, so I could think differently and respond differently when tempted to go back into my old ungodly thought patterns. His daily counsel through journaling was invaluable!

One journal entry which was completely life transforming was this: “Mark, whatever you fix your eyes upon, grows within you, and whatever grows within you, you become.” He taught me never to look at my sin or my weakness or my strength, but to look only at Him. This way Jesus grew within me (Gal. 4:19), and I became Christ-like, because I become a reflection of that which I fix my eyes upon (Heb. 12:1,2; 2 Cor. 3:18; 4:17,18).

The lady who prayed for me and cast the demons out had prayed six other prayers before attempting deliverance prayer. And it was these six other prayers which removed the anchors within me that the demons were attached to. Then, when she got around to deliverance prayer, it was not a 45-minute shouting match. It was a simple command for them to leave, repeated three or four times, and since they had no legal right to stay, they left.

There was no intense shaking or violent manifestation, no protest, because they recognized that their legal right to belong with me was now broken. Now I understood:  You should not try to cast out a demon until you have removed all his legal ground for being there. Finally I had found a smooth, easy protocol for getting demons out and for getting people healed! I was ecstatic and taught people to use all seven of these prayers.

Initially I thought that we should determine which of the seven prayers a person needs, and then offer them only those. However, after working with a number of people, I realized that everyone needs all seven prayers. To me, this is like taking a plow through a field and getting the weedy, neglected ground broken up and ready for a new planting. These seven prayers break up all the hardened soil of our hearts, so we can cooperate with God’s desire to remove our hard heart, and receive the new heart He has for us.

And if a person takes the time to pray a prayer that he didn’t really need, no damage is done. But if a person misses a prayer that is needed, then a root is left to allow the demon back. I decided it is better to be safe than sorry. I now pray all seven prayers with everyone, completely removing all legal rights.

The seven prayers are: breaking generational sins and curses, severing ungodly soul ties, repenting of ungodly beliefs, renouncing inner vows, receiving inner healing, breaking word curses, and finally casting out demons. And don’t forget the follow up two-way journaling and Bible meditation. They are essential!

It is crucial that as you apply these seven prayers, they come from your heart and not just from your head. A mechanical recitation of the words will not bring healing. You must use the language of the heart to heal the heart. Through careful Bible exploration, God has shown me that the language of the heart involves flow (Jn. 7:37-39), pictures (Acts 2:17), emotion (Ezek. 3:14), pondering and meditation (Ps. 77:6). So as I pray, I need to see what I am praying and tune to flow.

For example, in inner healing prayer, I invite Jesus into the painful scene and ask Him to move freely. I tune to flow and watch what He does as the scene comes alive with the life of the Holy Spirit.

One lady could not get past the pain of never seeing or holding her stillborn child and loving him. In inner healing prayer she entered a vision in which she was in heaven and Jesus was walking toward her holding a little baby. He handed her the child and said, “This is your son.” She cuddled him and counted all his tiny fingers and toes and nursed him. Finally Jesus said, “It’s time to go.” She kissed her baby good-bye and placed him in Jesus’ arms, and she returned to earth, with a healed heart.

Does it work? Yes, my heart is free and has remained free for the last ten years. This story has been repeated by hundreds I have ministered to. It will work for you and for your loved ones!

Wholeness involves letting God’s truth, light and revelation fill us, which drives out demons and their darkness and lies. We can do this on our own, but for greater effectiveness, we can connect with others who are on the same path. I love teaming up with like-minded believers.

Jesus chose to send His disciples out by twos, and the Bible says that a chord of three is not quickly broken. Whenever I recognize a need to grow, I unite with others who are also seeking similar growth, or who are ahead of me in the area. In light of these principles, I make the following suggestions to you:

Learn to clearly hear God’s voice and see His visions. Then apply this skill by praying ALL SEVEN prayers that heal the heart, and do it with a group of friends.

You do not need to live with your emotional pain. God wants to heal it! Let Him!

My Journey to Freedom – Dr. Joy Hong, New York City

I was exposed to “inner healing” during the year 2000 when I attended an inner healing seminar. Since then I had attended many seminars on deliverance from evil spirits. But I found the seminars didn’t help me at all. I had been tormented by my inner wound continually. I also went to California retreat center that was the place mainly famous for the deliverance work. But it didn’t help me either. The pastor there tried to cast out evil spirits from me but it didn’t work.

So I gave up my attempt to drive demons out. Instead I began to meditate on the Word of God; the Love of God. Daily in the morning, I would meditate on the Word memorizing verses about Love, Joy and Peace. I soaked deeply in His Love and Word. This caused my inner pain to diminish somewhat and I felt a gradual healing. It was a long journey to freedom and I still had not arrived.

Then in May this year, while on the internet, I discovered Mark Virkler’s teachings on “How to Hear God’s Voice” and “Prayers That Heal the Heart”. I have had a hard time learning to hear God’s voice. In the past I had thought I heard God’s voice but I then discovered that it was not God’s voice. So I was passionate to learn to hear God’s voice more clearly.

I attended an intensive 3-day teaching by Mark Virkler on how to hear God’s voice. We covered the four keys of stillness, vision, spontaneity and journaling. After I attended this conference, I found I was able to see Jesus by looking for vision and I could hear His voice. My spiritual eyes and ears were opened by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. For the next one month, I did daily journaling which prepared me for the follow-up conference on “Prayers That Heal the Heart.”

As I journaled I found how deep and beautiful the Love of Jesus is. I saw a vision of Jesus playing with me. He embraced me in His arms. In my vision I was about 5 years old and I asked Him to play with me and He did. It was so vivid and healing.

I saw a vision of Him as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah and I rode on His back. As we journeyed down the street, I noticed that all the other spiritual beings were trembling. I was extremely strengthened through this experience of His strong presence.

His voice became clearer as I continued to journal. Sometimes, in my vision, Jesus became as a mother hen who gathered her chicks under her wings. And under His wings I enjoyed God’s love, protection and rest. Sometimes He became an eagle which I rode as He took me into 3rd heaven.

Before taking the seminar on “How to Hear God’s Voice” my image of Jesus was that of an authoritative being with frozen postures and no smile. But through two-way journaling and vision, I found Jesus was full of joy, funny, playful, humorous and one who willingly played with me. As I played with Him often I became transformed into a joyful being.

Then July 19, 2010, the conference “Prayers that Heal the Heart” started. I was taught to apply 7 specific prayers and as I prayed through each prayer I began to feel lighter in my chest and in my spirit. As I finished repenting of my negative expectations and inner vows I felt so much lighter and better.

Then I invited Jesus to come into the traumatic pictures in my mind of things that had happened in my past. I was able to see these negative pictures in a new light as I saw Jesus there, moving and doing things. Finally I was able to interpret these events positively. I felt relieved and free from the negative power of these past memories.

After I worked through all 6 steps that are part of the process of dismantling evil spirits’ homes, I sat down with my group (4 people including me) in my hotel room. We began to pray for each other to cast out the evil spirits by following the instructions given to us. We all experienced wonderful freedom. My self-hate and fear that had been tormenting me finally left.

Through this experience my faith has been strengthened. I found I can cast out evil spirits in the name of Jesus. It works! I realized that I needed the training “how to hear God’s voice” first in order to go through the process of healing of my heart. I needed to see Jesus alive and hear His voice in order to be healed.

Victory comes through His work and power, not any human’s ability or power. Previously I failed because my eyes and ears were closed and I did not know I needed to dismantle the demon’s house before trying to cast it out. Now I am set free. Glory to God! Thank You, Lord. Also I am really thankful for the teaching of Mark Virkler who has well organized these principles to reach the freedom. We are called to be free.

Mark Virkler's comments on the above testimony

Joy Hong (see article above) called our offices after watching my TV interview with Sid Roth on Prayers That Heal the Heart requesting prayer for healing. Since she is Korean and I was doing two Korean Wagner Schools over the next two months, she agreed to fly from New York City to Chicago to attend them.

The first was on “How to Hear God’s Voice,” followed a month later by “Prayers That Heal the Heart.” Notice from her testimony how important it was for her to be able to hear God’s voice and see vision, and how this prepared her for successful deliverance after trying unsuccessfully to receive inner healing and deliverance for 10 years! It is the bringing in of God’s light that drives out demonic darkness.

Also, notice that deliverance worked when the anchors that the demons were attached to were first repented of and removed! Then the demons were easily cast out. I encourage you to walk people through this process. It works! People do get set free, even after a lifetime of struggle, and it is generally a smooth and easy process.

Host the 12-week series on How to Hear God’s Voice, followed by the 12-week series Prayers that Heal the Heart. It is a small investment to take only six months to transform one’s life through establishing spiritual intimacy and then driving out demonic darkness.

And, of course, you keep the door shut to further intrusion by satan by doing a 1-3 month Bible meditation on the topic that is on the opposite side of the issue you just received deliverance from. For example, if you are delivered from fear, doubt and unbelief, then you do a Bible meditation on faith, trust and belief. This process is taught in the Prayers That Heal the Heart series.

When I experienced deliverance prayer ministry in 2000, I was delivered of several clusters of demons so I did a Bible meditation in several areas. I spent a total of two to three months ensuring all doors were closed so the demons could not return (Lk. 11:24-26). I have shared the Bible meditations I did in the appendices of our book Prayers That Heal the Heart. I also continued to do two-way journaling, thus continuously bringing in God’s light and truth. In addition, I repent daily of my sins and through these means I have been able to remain free of demons over the last 10 years!

So I can vouch from my life’s experience and that of many others, that these steps toward freedom can and do work! Nine months for freedom is not too high a price to pay (that is, three months for How to Hear God’s Voice, three months for Prayers That Heal the Heart and three months for an intensive Bible meditation). Do you want to be the same person next year that you are now, or do you want to grow in the Lord and be free of that besetting sin and controlling wound? Please use these steps yourself and teach them to others. Let’s get people free in Christ Jesus and show them how to remain free! May our lives of wholeness bring glory to Almighty God!

“If I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.” (Matt. 12:28)

“And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them.” (Mk. 6:13)

“These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues.” (Mk. 16:17)

Delivered of demons while watching a Prayers That Heal the Heart DVD

“I have just finished watching the last DVD for the Prayers That Heal the Heart course, the DVD on the Model Healing Prayer Session where you minister to Heidi. As background to my testimony, I need to let you know that I have had an issue with fear of abandonment. While I’ve gone through deliverance for several demons, the problem I’ve had with the fear of abandonment was not, to my knowledge, ever addressed head-on.

“Well, as you prayed for Heidi, I was thinking about how much I identified with her pain and how much compassion I had for her. Then suddenly, I began to cough very forcefully and almost to gag. I knew instantly that a spirit of the fear of abandonment had come out of me! I had to write to tell you that, even though you were not personally ministering to me, that demon of the fear of abandonment had to obey the Name of Jesus. Glory to God!”
