POSITION: Assistant Pastor
Emphasis: Youth Pastor/Christian Education Director
GENERAL SUMMARY: This full-time salaried position requires a confessed believer in Jesus Christ that can support and exemplify the mission statement of Alliance Bible Church. Responsible for the administration of youth ministries (grades 7-12) in all aspects of recruitment, staffing, scheduling, implementation, and promotion of above ministry. Also will be responsible for the oversight of Christian Education (Birth-6th grade) in providing support to lay coordinators, and assisting with staffing, recruitment, and training of leaders and volunteers. There will be opportunity for preaching, teaching of adults, and counseling opportunities as the individual’s desires and giftedness are ascertained and developed. There will be a sharing of the general workload of the church and other ministry opportunities that may be assigned by the Senior Pastor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Youth Pastor:
· Exemplify a Christian lifestyle as a role model to youth through personal testimony
· Schedule, prepare curriculum/activities and participate in midweek youth program
· Recruit, supervise and lead volunteer youth workers
· Develop youth activities that will encourage discipleship, mentoring and the spiritual growth of teens
· Communicate with teens and their parents with integrity and grace
· Evangelize and minister to the lost through outreach activities for the glory of God and His kingdom
· Counsel youth with wisdom and discernment
· Promote and grow youth program with informed and defined calendar of events
· Work within the budgeted guidelines set forth by the leadership
· Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and prayer opportunities
Christian Education Director:
· Exemplify a Christian lifestyle as a role model to children through personal testimony
· Coordinate leaders in cooperating with one another to meet the larger vision of ABC by leading the Children’s Ministry department
· Train and develop ministry coordinators, over each area of children’s ministry
· Assist in the recruiting, supervision and leadership of volunteer children’s workers, and promotion of children’s ministries
· Develop events that are outreach oriented to both encourage the children of the church to reach out, and provide opportunities for unchurched kids to connect with Christ and the body here at ABC
· Organize and chair the regular meeting of the CE Committee
· Assist lay leaders in working within their budget as set by the leadership
· Promote children’s ministries within the church body, and developing relationships between the ministries and the families of the children they serve
THE POSITION REQUIRES
· A four-year degree in a pastoral related field (candidates without such training need two years of related experience) and demonstrated experience in either a paid or a volunteer position.
· The pursuit of licensing and ordination with the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
· Valid driver’s license. Candidate must be willing to obtain a CDL to utilize church “bus” in order to transport others.
· Candidate must submit to a criminal background check.
· Good working skills in the area of general office equipment, computer terminals, and general business software programs. Also requires a thorough knowledge of managing, planning and organizing the type of activities directly related to children’s and youth activities.
