Were not our hearts burning within us
while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the
Scriptures to us? (Lk. 24:32)
I attended a conservative Christian liberal
arts college, hoping to be thoroughly trained in Bible. However, in their Bible
survey course, we were not even required to read through the entire Bible. We
were only asked to skim various portions and skip others altogether. I was
disappointed, because I was hoping for more. In our Through the Bible
series, the student does more than skim portions of the Bible. He is guided in a
meditation of every single chapter of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. Yes,
this takes about two years, but who cares? Is there any substitute for your
having carefully examined the entire Bible yourself, and perhaps even shared
your insights with a close group of Christian friends who are going through this
course with you? If you desire, you may break the Bible into major sections and
intersperse your Scripture exploration with other books and courses we offer on
the Holy Spirit. This may help keep you balanced between the Word and the
Spirit.

As exemplified in the story of Jesus illuminating the Scriptures to the disciples on the Emmaus Road
(Lk. 24:32), true biblical meditation involves the Holy Spirit revealing the Scriptures to one's heart (Josh. 1:8). The student is
led into this process of biblical meditation through the use of guided self-discovery questions. In these, the student is encouraged to discover and record his insights from every chapter of the Bible. The background and theme of each book is examined, and major biblical themes are traced. A chart of each book of the Bible is provided, in which the student creates and records chapter titles as he goes along.
The student is exposed to proper principles of biblical interpretation, and is expected to work with them.

"Bible Survey (Through
the Bible) is not
a detailed study of the Scriptures. It is a survey, an overview, the Bible at
a glance. It is a brief picture of the unfolding of Gods revelation from
creation to consummation. Mark Virklers unique approach to Bible Survey,
the use of graphs or charts for the Bible and for each book is a particularly
effective overview of Gods revelation throughout Bible history. The
Discussion Questions sections not only allow the students to zero in on
important incidents and lessons from each book but also the opportunity to
hear what the Spirit is saying to them personally."

Have you ever wished you could check out something in the Greek or Hebrew to find out for sure what the verse actually said in the original text? Well, now you can! This manual trains a person to do original Bible study utilizing the Greek and Hebrew, by teaching him to use an interlinear Greek-English New Testament, a
Young's or Strong's Concordance, a Bible dictionary, a Greek lexicon, a study Bible and
Vine's Expository Dictionary. No previous knowledge of Greek or Hebrew is required. This course is academically demanding.
Contains answers to the assigned questions from the book Tools for the
Workman.
